A Quinceañera is a special moment in my culture. It’s a celebration of the moment a girl turns into a women. It’s a momentous occasion that is celebrated with a day full of festivities.
I started planning out my Quinceañera when I was about 13 years old. I’m the first born from my mom’s side of the family, so I was pretty spoiled by all of my aunts and uncles. Everyone wanted to be a part of planning out my big day. We took about a year and a half to get ready for my Quinceañera, which included picking out a simple baby blue dress that had the perfect amount of sparkle, getting the hall, finding a great DJ, and even making our own center pieces. I must say it was a lot of work. But everyone was excited!
The day of my Quinceañera just flew by. We ate, we danced, we laughed. There was over 300 people
at my Quinceañera, WAY over capacity. Family and friends came from San Francisco, Mexico, Texas and Colorado. It was such a memorable event in my life. I kept some gifts and recuerdos from my Quinceañera. So almost 15 years later, I can go back and remember all the great memories from that day. I hope to one day share it with my own child.
