Have you ever wondered how it was like to raise kids back in the days? You know, the days without the Internet and smartphones and without having “an app for that.”

That’s a question that’s really been swirling in my head lately. Because, to be honest, I can’t imagine parenting without using modern technology.

I am all about trying cool, high tech gadgets to help me get through this first year of parenthood.

If you know about my birthing story then you know that Kai spent his first week in the hospital. For a first time mother, you can only image how traumatic that experience was, and it only served to make me EXTRA paranoid when my baby boy finally made it home.

I spent those first few nights basically wide awake. I felt the need to constantly check on him every other minute. Thankfully, I partnered with Owlet and finally was able to find peace of mind.

The Owlet is a simple way to monitor your baby’s heart rate and oxygen levels as they sleep. The Owlet system, which is a Smart Sock, a Base Station, and an Owlet App, is designed to alert parents if their baby stops breathing.

The Smart Sock, which comes in four different sizes, uses pulse oximetry to track your baby’s heart rate and oxygen levels. You know that small clip that hospitals use on your finger to monitor your levels? Well, it’s the same type of technology!

The Base Station, which we kept nearby on our nightstand, collects the data from the Smart Sock via Bluetooth and is the primary alert system designed to notify you if the heart rate drops too low or rises too high, or if your baby’s oxygen levels drop below a certain threshold. The Owlet App was an added asset that offered specific data right in the palm of my hand.

I’m so happy to have partnered with Owlet because first and foremost, it gave me the peace of mind and the ability to relax and get some much needed sleep.  Since the Smart Sock is proactively monitoring Kai’s vitals, I know I can rest and be ready to be the best parent I can be in the morning. And secondly, I know I can trust this technology because it has been thoroughly tested!

So if you are looking to calm your nerves at night with your newborn like I was, I would suggest you check out the Owlet! Your sleep will thank you!
